Sibiu (also known as Hermannstadt), the site of the upcoming General Assembly, proved to be an excellent place for hosting the Council meeting from August 31 to September 1. Not only did the city welcome the group with its lively terraces and pubs, medieval setting, and wide range of cultural activities, but the local churches proved to be gracious and friendly hosts. The Council members took a look at the designated venues for the Assembly: The Evangelical Church for the plenary sessions, the Reformed Church for the devotions, the Brukenthal-lyceum for workshops, the Pupil's Dormitory for the steward program, plus different hotels and pubs. The business portion of the Council meeting was held in the premises of the National Consistory of the Evangelical Church A.C. in Romania. Here, in addition to questions from the General Assembly, work assignments were discussed, reports received and the application of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Georgia and the Southern Caucasus to become a member of CPCE was approved. |
